Bistek Tagalog, also known simply as "Bistek," is a popular Filipino dish that features thinly sliced beef cooked in a flavorful marinade of soy sauce, calamansi (Filipino lime), and other seasonings. The dish is characterized by its savory and slightly tangy taste.
Ingredients
- 500 grams Beef frying steak or sirloin thinly slice
- 1 tbsp. lemon juice
- 3 tbsps. soy sauce
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- ¼ tsp. ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- ½ cup water
- 2 gloves garlic, minced
- 4 tbsps. Cooking oil
- 2 medium onion, sliced into thin ring
Directions
- Slice the beef into a thin slice.
- Pound the meat with tenderizer or with the dull edge of a clever to tenderize. [How to tenderize click here]
- And slice into a serving portion
- Combine lemon juice, soy sauce, salt, garlic, pepper and sugar
- Pour mixture over beef and marinate for at least 30 minutes
- Sauté onions ring in hot oil until texture become soft. Transfer to platter
- Drain beef, fry the beef using the same pan over medium heat until brown both side.
- Remove excess oil. Add marinate and ½ cup water and bring to boil.
- Simmer for another 3-5 minutes.
- Transfer to flatter and add sautéed onion
- Serve hot with rice.
