Bistek-Tagalog

Bistek Tagalog, also known simply as "Bistek," is a popular Filipino dish that features thinly sliced beef cooked in a flavorful marinade of soy sauce, calamansi (Filipino lime), and other seasonings. The dish is characterized by its savory and slightly tangy taste.

Ingredients 

  • 500 grams Beef frying steak or sirloin thinly slice
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 3 tbsps. soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 gloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tbsps. Cooking oil
  • 2 medium onion, sliced into thin ring

 Directions 

  1. Slice the beef into a thin slice.
  2. Pound the meat with tenderizer or with the dull edge of a clever to tenderize. [How to tenderize click here]
  3. And slice into a serving portion
  4. Combine lemon juice, soy sauce, salt, garlic, pepper and sugar
  5.  Pour mixture over beef and marinate for at least 30 minutes
  6. Sauté onions ring in hot oil until texture become soft. Transfer to platter
  7. Drain beef, fry the beef using the same pan over medium heat until brown both side.
  8. Remove excess oil. Add marinate and ½ cup water and bring to boil.
  9. Simmer for another 3-5 minutes.
  10. Transfer to flatter and add sautéed onion
  11. Serve hot with rice.
